Here are the Little People I played with:

Just look at the 1960's mama's figure: currrvey.
And the new ones that my daughter plays with:

I almost spent $144 on a huge lot of vintage Little People, including the house, the school, the barn and the garage, but then I stopped myself because what if my daughter LIKES the new ones?
My walk down memory lane on Ebay rustled up this baby: The Kenner Tree House, featuring the Tree Tots. Mem-OH-ries! I'd love to get one of these, but they're fetching the big bucks.

Oh how I loved that house and the bus! Did you have the bus? I did not just play with those toys; they became a part of me. I loved them. I wish I still had them. The new toys suck. Plastic toys suck balls.
I had the bus, too, oh yes.
what i dislike the most about the new ones is that they are too detailed-- too specific. i like the abstracted vagueness of the old ones--the ones i had. they allow the child's imagination to fill in the details, and to change them again and again.
